What the Mind Keeps is an instrumental journey through the way our minds hold onto thoughts, memories, emotions, and experiences. Originally started years ago as an unfinished musical “mind dump,” the piece stayed with me until I eventually found my way back to it.
Rooted in R&B, soul, jazz, contemporary instrumental, and minimalist influences, it moves between introspective, soulful moments and more adventurous, rhythmically driven passages, with harmony that shifts, repeats, builds, and returns to something familiar.
At times restless and searching, and at others calm and reflective, the piece captures an inner dialogue without a clear answer, where thoughts come and go, emotions change, and life moves forward, while certain things continue to remain with us.

What the Mind Keeps is an instrumental journey through the way our minds hold onto thoughts, memories, emotions, and experiences. The piece originally began years ago as almost a musical “mind dump” an unfinished idea that somehow stayed with me until I found my way back to it.
Rooted in R&B, soul, jazz, and contemporary instrumental influences, the melody moves between introspective and soulful moments and more adventurous, rhythmically driven passages. The harmony wanders, shifts unexpectedly, repeats, builds into moments of intensity, and eventually finds its way back to something familiar, much like the mind itself.
At times restless and searching, and at others calm and reflective, the piece represents an inner dialogue that doesn't necessarily have a clear answer. Thoughts come and go, emotions change, and life moves forward, but certain things remain with us.
