Welcome Letter
I’m so excited that you came across Jesica Yap Music Academy (JYMA)! As a piano teacher and educator for over a decade, I’ve experienced a diverse set of goals and needs from my students. My goal is to help you achieve your goal in music, whether it be learning piano casually as a hobby, or playing it on an expert level. Your love of music is probably why you’re here and ready to create, learn and have lots of fun, so let’s do it!
Whether it’s your 3-year-old child, or it’s you who used to take music lessons and now misses it and wants to come back to it again, any ages and skill levels are welcome! With children, it takes the support of parents to get them started in music, and with the help of a skilled professional instructor, together we can guide even the youngest ones toward their musical journey filled with fun, creativity and joy. It truly takes a village!
If you’re totally new to music, I want to congratulate you for taking your first step – finding courage to want to start learning piano. Now let me help you with your next step, which is to give you lots of encouragement and help you build confidence and enjoyment in your musical journey. Reserve your spot now!
See you at our first lesson!

High-quality Coaching
As a qualified ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal School of Music) teacher, I have the ability to register my students through the ABRSM for piano and theory exams and coach them with the ABRSM exam syllabus so they can pass the exam with ease. My students receive elite-level instruction whether they are just starting out or are concert-ready!
Hands-on Learning
As a teacher, I don’t just offer “by the book” teaching. My approach is to mentor my students and help them work through hardships and frustrations when learning a difficult piece, and I help them break through those challenging barriers. I teach the whole package of art by aiding their growth as musicians and helping them develop and perfect their art and approach by giving them the tools to broaden their horizons so they can see multiple perspectives. Customized Lesson
During our first consultation, students will be asked what their goals are for learning piano. From then on, I will build a lesson plan for them according to their desired short and long-term goals.
Performance / Show Case Opportunities
JYMA hosts recitals twice a year where students are given the opportunity to showcase their abilities, talents and skills in front of their families and other students. At the end of the performance, the students are given a JYMA certificate and a trophy to honor their achievement and success. The immediate feedback students receive at these live showcases are excellent confidence boosters! Click here for recitals videos and pictures.
